Parrot Cichlids ?

Parrots are ok in a community if they are the same size as their tank mates.
Smaller parrots would be picked on by fish such as Jacks or Midas etc, and a big parrot can make life hell for a smaller cichlid if it chooses to - so it's all about balance.
Another consideration is colouring. I have a red parrot and a yellow parrot, and the interaction with fish of the same colour is quite different from that with the darker fish in the tank.
It's an unpredictable arrangement in general, so give it a go and see how they get on - but size is important in this case

the temprement of parrot cichlids varies a lot. it all depends on the individual fish. keep it with fish of simular size as others have said. you can keep this fish with large shoaling fish which will keep the aggresion down and will also keep the parrots active.
IMO suitable tankmates include:
-severums
-tinfoil barbs
-giant danios
-large angel fish
there are many more but these are just a few wich came to mind.

I assume by the posts that you're talking about a blood parrot (the hybrid) and not the true parrot cichlid (Psitticus)...
I aggree with Kool_sk8a about the aggression of blood parrots. But, with the tank as small as it is, I wouldn't recommend getting tinfoil barbs to put with him. They get a foot long! The giant danios sounds like a descent idea.
