Pearl gourami Vs 3 Spot??

Hi all,

May be silly but just wondering if a pearl gourami would mate with three spot gourami???

I have a pair of 3 spot gouramis and a female pearl gourami. Would this pearl breed with 3 spot male??

Any idea??

They won't hybridize, I think. They probably won't even get along too well.

kikuchiyo is right on....they are a different species, cannot breed. they will get along sometimes, yours are probably okay since your pearl is female. the males of each species can be rambunctious to say the least.

It is possible they could breed, but highly unlikely. The hobby discourages hybridization, and it's a good rule to follow. Hybrids weaken the gene pool of both parent fish. Anyway it is unlikely she will breed with them but she will hang around with the other blue gourami females in the tank.
