Peat moss? what is it?

Hi, since i want an amazon tank with a low ph, i was wondering what kind of thigns should i have for it and i know that ppl said u cna put peat mosss and that will hlep lower it, what is it?, where can i get it, and how does it help?

Peat moss is a kind of soil/moss that is used for gardens, usually. You can get it at any garden center, or walmart or some such store, usually pretty cheap. Get it pure, no soil mixed in. Rinse it like you would gravel until water runs clear, then you can either put some under your substrate or in the filter.

Also, to lower your pH, driftwood works well. I have a 10 gal with a weighed piece that's about 5" tall and 3" wide, and it keeps my pH around 6.2. Well, at least that's as low as the reading goes. Plus driftwood looks cool
