So i bought a tank from this couple who were leaving the country. its a 55 gallon that had goldfish, which i have now replaced with other fish.

here's the thing: the tank came with a penguin 160, which is rated for a 30gallon tank.

I've ordered a penguin 350.

Should the combination of the two be sufficient for the tank?

should i just get rid of the 160?

i have a UGF running too.

just take off the tube and then grab onto the UGF and pull it slowly out of the ground so all the poop doesn't come flying out and slide the gravel off of the UGF. Its not attached to the tank if that is what you are thinking, or you could just take out the tube and leave the UGF under the gravel if its not annoying you.

thats sounds simple enough. i'll get rid of the tube as soon as my 350 gets here. i bought it on petsmart.com and it was 15$ cheaper than the petsmart store ($29 vs $44). doesn't that just seem wrong?

Well, I am sorry that my neighbor let him get like that. But thank you for the sentiments! I left out that I bought a bigger filter to put on his tank, but I kept his filter. It is in my new filter's box. I have yet to buy replacements for it, because I only have the sunfish in the tank and don't need all the filtration until I get my new layout figured out.
