Penguin 170 or Emperor 280 for a 20g

I'm going to upgrade from a 10g glass to a 20g acrlyric. Right now, i'm using a penguin 125 and it works great. My questions are:
1. Do I need a new filter or my current filter will be sufficient? If not, which one should I buy (penguin or emperor)?
2. Will the emperor creates too much current for a 20g? (My fish are goldfish).

Are you looking to upgrade to a P170 or Emperor 280 from a P125? Or are you asking if a P125 will suffice?

Either way, a P170 would do just fine on 20. I do not have experience with an emperor, so I cannot not give you an opinion on that.

For a goldfish tank you want to move the water through the filter 10 times an hour so I would go with the biggest filter.

i don't know about the emporer either but i have a penguin 170 on my 29 gallon and it keeps my water sparkly clean
