Sometimes (lets say once a day) my Penguin Mini makes a churning sound, as if its filling itself with water, for a few seconds. As it is stopping, tiny bubbles are comming out of the filter out-take. Then it stops and continues running quietly.

I'm not quite sure why its doing this, but I am wondering if it is time to consider looking for a new filter to have as a backup (if I can find a sale on one now it might be better than having to run out to the store and pay to much).

You thoughts?

Have you taken it apart and cleaned it out good? Sometimes if you have gunk on the impeller it will cause issues like that. I have an old toothbrush (never used with toothpaste etc, just new and has been used on aquarium stuff) that works nicely for cleaning the parts of my filters.
