Anybody heard anything on Cascade filters?I have use marineland, fluval, emporer w bio wheels in the past with no problems. I just got a new 45gal tank which I will be setting up soon and would like to try something new. Now that I sold my 55 and starting from ground zero I would like your input on this filters I also like Eheim but don't know how good they are since everyone has had a 50\50 love hate relationship with them. and from what I read so far Rena xp is the way to go.......... is this right?

Cascades are decent filters, Ive heard some random issues with leaking and general canister things...I would put them on par with a Fluval. But yeah, I have to recommend the Rena XP series aover all others mostly just because I have phased out all other canisters in their favor I run 5 XP3s and 1 XP4 in my bedroom and they are dead silent...not to mention a couple of them have been going for nearly 10 years. I also like the Eheim classic series and used to run alot of them, but they dont offer the flow rates Im looking for these days but are awesome for a moderate size planted.

Heres a couple of Drs F&S links which save big bucks :)

For a 45G, the XP2 should handle it just fine alone...unless your going to seriously stock it then the XP3 may be a good alternative.

Thanks for the fast response after looking around all day on the internet. I will try out the Eheims classic modle 2215 good for up to 92 gallons. I got it on sale for $100.00 plus tax thru petsmart online. I'll let you know what I think after I try it out for a while.
