I have a 10 gal tank, in the process of geting all the equiptment for a 30-40 gal. i bought a penuin 200 rated up to a 50 gal tank. i hooked it up to the 10 gal just to help out. should i run the undergravel fillter with the penuin? and i noticed the current was quite strong around the edges should i not be running this in a 10 gal or is there a way to turn it down?

To my knowledge there is no way to reduce the flow on Penguin's. I have the 200 in my 55g. It's plenty strong for that tank, so it will be fine for your 30-40 future tank.

Are you planning on keeping the 10? If so, maybe look at a small Whisper filter for it as they have flow control knobs. That can come in handy when it comes time to feed as you food won't get drowned as fast.

Might be a little strong for your ten gallon, but it should be fine.
It should work nicely on your new tank.
