I just got a peppered cory catfish so my albino cory would have a friend. Everyone in my tank seems to be super healthy and doing very well. My peppered cory just lays on the bottom or hides. sometimes he looks like hes dead. i read on another forum that this is kinda normal for them can anyone else confirm that? or should i return him and get a better one?

Wow, my peppered cory is super active. I got mine as a friend for my panda cory, and it's the panda that I find is a less active fish. They also completely ignore each other as far as I can tell, so I don't know how much good my peppered cory is as a friend :p I'm also amazed at the beautiful iridescent colors on my peppered when he swims up near the top of the tank. I hadn't realized how pretty they are when I've seen them in the pet store, since they always seem to just sit on the bottom there.

No quarantine tank?

Hello; I am new to this forum, but a fishkeeper since 1959. I have been using a quarantine tank for several years now. I usually keep new fish in this tank for at least a week, sometimes longer. I have introduced disease and parasites into a community tank by immediately placing a new fish in an established tank. If I am out of line by posting this here, please let me know. For much of my early fishkeeping years I placed new fish in a community tank right away and got away with it most of the time. Just a thought.
