the real paradox is that they more helpful they are to you, the less money the store makes.  If the fishes are healthy, you wouldn't come back for another fish in a while.  Also there are so many useless stuff there on the shelf the creates problems just so that another product will sell.  this site has a very nice product review, but it would be really nice if there is a store review?
i know that it is hard to review all the store in so many different states, but if everyone gives a little, at least we would know which are the good stores to buy from, and which are to be avoided.
just a thought

My store is the store to buy stuff from. If something doesn't work, we don't suggest it. We are the number 2 store in the state too.  So obviously we are doing something right. I have only been to one other one and that was because we were taking stuff from that store to ours. It was closing, they didn't have enough business. I will only recomend stuff that i know works and that i other people have had succes with. Thats my input..

I have a LFS near to me called Wildwoods.....

they do anything to do with fish keeping from ponds to marine and seem to be quite cheap...

I have checked the other stores in my area and have found that some that are marginally cheaper dont seem to have staff who know what they are talking about.

IE...I have a 5.5gal tank (I know its small  :) ) and I wanted to get a better filter than the one that came with it. They sold me a filer that is for 150L +

When I complained they said that they can only advise and I should have read the box....????? (I know I should have :( ). I asked to speak to the manager and was told he was the manager. It is not an issue now as I am about to get a 125L tank and this is perfect for it.

I went to wildwoods and told them what size I wanted and what I wanted to keep in it and they have spec. me quite a nice take and have thrown in a few bits and bobs for nowt.

Will go back there again and again..

my pennys worth

I know that my petsmart has been awsome they have benn the best that they can be even taking our cutermer persenel relationship to a personel level wich is really the best way to do it and i love to suport them finachally because without them i wouldent be nearly as exprerienced in fish as i am now.
i live in grand rapids MI and i have been to almost every fish store in grand rapids and no place has better tanks and a mor knowlegble staff than petsmart.
They make monney off of people like me that keep comeing back to get feeders and new supplies and send other busnees their way through referels and word of mouth. i think they know this and that is why they are always polite and maintain a clean store. to any one that works at a petsmart as cool as mine thanks for makeing the hobby so much funner.
