I have the API Freshwater Master Test Kit. I now have water in my aquarium and am more or less enjoying it "fishless" As of yesterday it has a couple of live plants in it. Water is nice and clear. It is well water. For practice, while waiting to find ammonia, I tested the pH. It didn't exactly match anything because it is definitely a blue and to me the 7.6 is more of a blue green. So I tried the High Range pH - It is definitely not purple, but it is some where between the 7.8 and 8.2. I have spent much of my day reading and there certainly are a lot of opinions about what if anything to do. Seems like one theory is to do nothing, the fish will acclimate and if I try to do something, I will be chasing it forever. And then there is the theory to use additives to lower it, meaning I would be chasing it every time I did even a partial water change. Note: I have a betta in a bowl that I've had for at least a year with this water and he is happy and active - greets me every morning *SUNSMILE*with a little dance until I feed him.

Leave your pH - unless you are going to keep really picky fish or try to breed them, you will be better with a constant pH of whatever happens naturally from your well water. Your betta tells you so already! *SUNSMILE*
