The exciting thing about him is that he's still a very young fish, so he'll get even more stunning as he matures.
Also, the pics I just posted don't even show him looking his best---if you look close, you'll notice that some of the darker markings (which appear black and/or brownish) on his sides are somewhat faded. That is partly a result of sticking the camera in his face.
Here's a perfect example of what I'm talking about with the faded markings (first pic---taken Nov. when I first got him) vs. how he looks with prominent markings (last 4 pics---taken in recent days as he's defending his territory):
