Hi,

I just moved my 3 tanks to my new place with loss of fishy life. <phew>

Now my only problem is that my pl*co is accidently uprooting plants when he is looking for food. The plants just need to grow more roots so they can hang on when their 10" friend comes by to say hi :)

I have surrounded some plants with rocks as a form of fortification but don't have enough rocks to protect all of the plants. The ones that aren't protected are uprooted ebery other day.

Anyone have any suggesting for keeping new/replanted plants from becoming uprooted by a large bottom feeder?

Somebody had this DIY thing where you get one thick sheet of plexiglass and cut it into a square. Then you drill a hole into it and just thread the roots through the hole. Then it'll stay on the bottom. You could even silicone gravel to the top of the square to hide it. It goes something like that. Wasn't very much help was it?

i can give you some advice.get a new kind of pleco that's it.plecos are hell to a planted tank unless you chosse one of the small bristlenoses or meat eating plecos. any common pleco(trnidads, gibbys, sailfins)will wreck a planted tank.they can't help it their just too big of a fish.i'm constantly replanting because when my pleco moves he trashes anything in his path.mine can uproo a well establihed patch of vals in just a couple of passes.

Oh, I'd never get rid of him! He was fine in the old setup because the plants had established themselves and had enough root structure to hold thier own.

I have had to remove some kinds of plants in the past because he was just too rough on them. My vals went to another tank last year because he also kept getting uprooting them.

Sounds like I am going to have to keep the rock fortifications around the plants until they once again grow enough roots to be able to handle his onslaughts.
