Plants in tank

So I've had 2 more fish mysteriously die from my mysterious fish killing ghost. I've noticed when they start to look "bad" (the fish that is) they like to go hide in one corner where I have a lot of plants. My whole tank is open water and rocks, but in the back right corner I have a bunch of fake plant cover to change things up... would this cause a problem at all?

I dont think so, if you could i would get some more cover for your fish if you can, the lack of hiding spaces might be causing you fish to stress out and could be a part of the cause, if they are dying
