The planted guys have a thread going, posting pics of their lovely planted tanks.  I say our time is now, please post pictures of your plastic planted tanks here. This thread will be a loving home to our acrylic amazons....our false fauna that bring us joy. Castles, bridges and neon signs also accepted (colesea).  Lets step out from the shadow of our too low wattage for real plant tubes and bask in each others artificial glory!  Vive la revolution  *celebratesmiley* PS. Mixed planted tanks also "grudgingly" accepted!  *twirlysmiley*

As I told Cole in a different thread - it's
Artificial Aquascaping by Artists with Attitude.

Sorry, but I am in a 12 step program - making my way to planted tank nirvana.  No more agriculture alternatives.
I am hoping that having plants (and all that that entails) will help with some water issues (pH).  I was with you.

You don't know the power of the bright (actinic) side...
(neither do I!)

Personally, I think a section for all plastic plants would be kinda cool, I have a few tanks with each, and all are beautiful, but it showes a different way to design.. I like live plants, but I'm very impatient, and also, have lack of money.. I buy what evers cheapest, or will do best under the consequences! I to have not posted any of my tanks, because I've seen some of the replys that people have posted, and do not want to get put down, everybody has there own taste..

muahaha

Not that I reval in my all plastic tank, but it's nice to see others in my situation (misery loves company.) I die everytime I see those ultra green ricca tanks, with a forest of swords  for a background, a nice lawn of glosso. For now I must be content with my half-assed-plastic-grass here and there, and my newly purchased driftood from http://www.aquariumdriftwood.com

I guess now I can go get my photos developed and post them without feeling too much shame  :p

My Cichlids take great delight in maiming anything appearing to be a plant. Where most people`s tank looks like a tropical rainforest, mine more closely resembles the surface of mars. I`m a huge supporter of plastic plants!  (out of necessity)

Honestly I took pictures, but it's been a looooong time since I had any photography class, so they didn't really come out all nice.

Artificial Aquascaping by Artist with Attitude, I like it.

If I didn't kill the plants I tried to grow, I wouldn't use plastic.  I'm just not a green thumb is all.

Anyway, as soon as my brother is out of his snit I'll have him scan the photos for me, crappy or not *shrug*.

Some plastic plants are pretty cool and some actually look real. If you check out my tank, the first pics taken (and also in the big top tanks), the plants are all fake. Not all fake plants are plastics. Mine were silk or something. However, I did go to real plants and will not go back. The problem I had was algae. Maybe if I get UV sterilizer I would go back but I like real plants better. However, I have seen some nice tanks with fake plants.

Good luck!  *thumbsupsmiley*

Im sure the most of use started out with plastics, I did.  Only recently did I take the leap to live plants.  Its not hard! Sure you can do the CO2 thing, but its not essential...I dont have CO2 on mine and my plants are growing like crazy, you just need to feed them a little. Just a bit of Floirsh or other liquid fertilizer... You will all come to the other side sooner or later......hahaha

I would love to do real plants, but my lighting is pretty sorry, and I've got an UGF... I didn't know when I started doing this that I would become so interested... in fact I'd never seen tanks like that before, full of moss and glosso etc. I tried to buy the best plastic plants they had when I did, and they look maybe 60% real I guess.

Anyway until I can afford to switch all my hardware out for the real deal, I still love the look I've accomplished with my plastics... maybe I'll go develop my film now and post a few pics  :)

Plastic plants are expensive if you ask me. I can get the same real plant for much less usually.

I actually had neon colored tanks at one point(orange, reds, greens, blues) with neon gravel and the works. I laugh at that tank when I see pictures.

I did however, like my fake corkscrew vals I always had in my 29 and 55 gallon, along with the green hanging gardens. It looked nice.

So plastic tanks can look nice.

SO where are the pics...don't make me dig up my old plastic tank pics.........

Cole, your ISP probably included some space with your contract.  I don't think you actually have to have a "site" in order to post a picture - just a link to your personal page...

(click my www and click on contact at my site, I dont like listing my email in forums... crawlers and such like to gather email addies for junk mail that way)

And here's my plastic tank yay:

still working on getting this new digi-camera to take better pictures =/
