I'm thinking the gravel I bought is going to be too small to safely keep with goldfish.

Yet I want fake plants in there, so I was thinking of putting the gravel in some kind of container...and going bare bottom.

What are some safe suggestions on this?
Glass is fine obviously as long as it won't fall or break.

I have an old old glass coffee pot with a plastic handle. Is it likely the plastic will deteriorate or break down into some harmful substance?
If the coffe pot is a bad idea...I'll buy some glass containers. Any thoughts?

I haven't added it yet. Waiting for a few opinions.
Thanks : )

I generally consider anything that can be used for food to be safe for fish. So, things like soda bottles, pretzel barrels, etc. are fine. I think the coffee pot would work. You can also use things like the large plastic soda cups, margarine containers and other food packaging, as long as you clean it well to remove any oils or residue. You can remove writing from plastic with wire wool fairly easily (not necessary, but it will look nicer). Also, the 99 cent store is your friend for things to put in the tank (glass containers, etc.).
