Platy Guppy Hybrid??

Hey guys, I haven't updated my signature cuz I haven't been on here for a while, but I noticed something very strange. I sold my male mickey mouse platy and now the only male fish I have is a male guppy. The oonly thing is that he likes to try and breed with one of my juvie female platies. Not the female guppy or the other platies. I've now noticed that she's pregnant and she's always been seperated from her father. I was wondering if she could possibly have hybrid fry. I've heard of it before, lthough it's very rare, and I was wondering if it might be happening to me. Another question I have is, why is it that my guppy only chooses to breed with her? He hasn't even looked at the other fish and since my two aquariums are next to each other, when I put him or her in the other aquarium he will follow her around by the side of the tank. It's just very strange and I'm looking for answers from people who might have some experience. (skjl I hope you're on!!! haha!!) Plus with my female platy, she looks like she's about to burst, so I put all of the other fish in one aquarium and I have her and all of my current fry in the other.

this is very possible. most livebearers will breed outside of their species. i had a swordtail who bred with another swordtail, a platy, and a molly before he passed. very interesting color combinations ensued, before the fry were mad a snack of by the rest of my fish.

A platy-guppy hybrid would be unlikely. If it did produce fry, it is unlikely the fry would be viable.

A guppy-molly hybrid is possible as they come from the same genus (Poecilia) but fry are likely sterile.

A platy-swordtail hybrid is possible as they come from the same genus (Xiphophorus) but fry are likely sterile.
