Around April 15 my platy gave birth to a few fry. A week or so later she gave birth again to just a few. Ihave 9 in the fry tank and there is 4 in main tank. The ones in the main tank are older I think. They have color already. This platy never got thin. Still real huge. I know they die after giving birth for what ever reason. Yesterday it started with her not eating and her lips won't close. Breathing rapid also. Now she is laying on her side. My question is, is this from problems giving birth or does she have something else. My other fish are fine and water parm. are good and I do water changes every week. Twice a week most of the time. Same thing happened to my swordtail. But hadn't given birth for a long time. I suspect she was just too old. I had her for about a year. She also couldn't close her mouth anymore, just layed around and breathed hard. I'm guessing yours is just old. Do you know how old she is (or how long you've had her?)
My other fish were fine. She was too old imo.
