Alright, so yesturday night, i woke up at about 12 to continues splashing in my fish tank! When i got up to check and see what it was i looked at the filter, and not at the filter intake but at the "water let out" was my ple*co's tale moving back and forth! so grabbed him quickly and put him back in the water.
Then at about 6:00 A.M. I woke up again to this splashing, I then got up and found him in the same place, so i grabbed him again and put him back in the water. He did survive all of this!

But i am wondering what the heck is he doing, and what should i do to stop it?

Thanks so much!

I've heard of BNs doing this. They go into the filter to spawn because of the high amount of flow. They are sometimes attracted to it. Cut a piece of plastic and glue it on the lid to make the hole smaller.

not much use in trying to train the plec not to do it.

You mean the outtake where the water flows back into the tank?
If so, my Hillsteam Loach used to do that. There's usually soom good algae buildup on your filter walls, mixed with out good stuff that bottomfeeders like. Doesn't sound too much like suicide, more like it was hungry ;)

Yeah, my bn was doing the same thing!!! Took a bit to figure out what all the splashing was about and I did think it must be the "goodies" he was looking for at the edge of the outlet lol I just increased his diet and he hasnt done it much anymore.:)
