I just bought an upside down catfish from my work (Petco). It was an impulse buy, I just thought that it was the coolest thing. Anywayz, there is Ick in the "system" but the tank that he was in didnt seem to show any signs of having Ick. I can put him in my 3G to treat him. But like I said he isnt showing any signs. Would he if hes scaleless? Should I treat him?

You will see that upsidedowns when kept alone (like mine) are particularly strange fish for you never see it. On very rare occasion he will honor you with his appearance to eat live blood worms and promptly dart back to his hideout. It feel like you never had the fish. Maybe they are more interesting in groups (it's why i bought my also, b/c i thought they are cool), i honestly do not know. "Ick in the system" in Petsmart - tell me about it! I learnt it all hard way. If you want to treat him do not use malachite green b/c he'll keel over in painful way. Salt and heat prob? I'm not sure.. I tried it succ. on other types of catfish such as cories and syn. eupterus (3 tea spoons/2.5g temp 85-88F).
Wish you luck!

What about Quick Cure? How do I tell if he has Ick? Is it bad to treat him if he has no Ick or if Im not sure?

The reason that the Ick got into "the system" at Petco is becuase we got a couple of employees that contaminated every damn tank we had. They would sell sick fish, they would use the same net from one tank to the next (even when one had Ick and the other didnt). But needless to say they are gone. "My" Petco is getting very strict on fish/animal care (ecsepecially after that). But we still have to get rid of it.
