I have a 20 gal i just finished cycling that i used 4 mollies to cycle. 3 female one male. i used the same four mollies to cycle a 37 gal 4 months ago. I know i am so cruel. the first time they all came away from it with a little fin rot and a slight case of ich for which they were treated and cured of. they dwelled in the tank for 3 morre months in great health and then were transferred to cycle what would be their permanent home. the tank is now cycled water looks great for about two weeks now but i have noticed that all of the fish are turning black (they are all platinum so it is very obvios.) and have been since the nitites spiked. I thought it was due to stress but now i am thinking a parasite as the water is good but blackening is worsening and fish are laying on bottom breathing heavaly and becoming emaciated although they muster energy to swim to top to eat then go right back down exhausted. as if the life is being sucked right out of them. please help me identify this so i can treat it and what should i use? further more the new fish (2 psudo zebra cichlids) that i added to the 37 gal are now begenning to turn black and the only fish that came in contact with both the mollies and cichlids is a pleco that was added only two days before the mollies were removed. please help!!!

lost sickest molly this morning. I feel like such an aweful mom i have not lost a fish in a couple years now. she was my favorite of the four. hopefully her deat will shed some light on the subject and help save the rest of the fish. I examined her body for clues this morning. i was unable to scrape off any of the black spots leading me to believe it is not an external parasite. i checked the websit that lotus posted and i am unsure becase the fish are all eating fine inculding the one that passed on this morning. she would lay on the bottom all day then swim with all her might to feed. but maybe that does not matter? there was only one other clue on the passed molly, her gills were very pale and swollen but no mucous. the water conditions this morning are ph 8.0 , alkalinity 280 ppm, GH hard amm. 0 ppm , nitrite 0 ppm , nitrate 30 ppm , salinity 12 ppt, temp 74F.
