I brought an apple snail home 2 days ago. ...at that moment the nightmare started... it eats my beautiful plants and it does not stop to eat! I have a piece of lettus all the time in the tank and sometimes(if I put the snail on top of it or only for 5 min.) it eats the lettus. then, come back to the plants...

Is there any way to keep it away of the plants?...

Thank you

My apple snails have never touched my plants but I have heard other's say the opposite. Maybe you could just try some other foods. We used to have a hermit crab that died and I discovered that my apple snails love the hermit crab food. Also, they seem to really like zucchini. I have one that also likes algae wafers but the other two won't touch them.

If your snail eats plants, then it eats plants. I'd guess that no matter what you feed it, it will continue to eat your plants. It's just their nature.

I'd suggest returning that snail and getting a different kind that is guarenteed plant-friendly.

snails are really hardy, you could probably remove it from the tank and keep it in a bucket or some other container untill you can return it. They're not too picky about water conditions.
