Hi everyone...

Something went wrong with my pregnent molly... she had a huge open wound on her side... =(... Last week I put her into this breeding tank (5gal ) because she's getting huge. Everything was ok, but she didn't give birth this time.. until one day, I saw that on her right side there was a dark spot. It was as big as a soy bean. At first it was just a dark mark on the skin, so I put in some fungus medicine to avoid infection. Days after, the round mark on her side got even darker... and today when I checked on her, the skin on the dark spot was falling apart..!!! It looks like something was growing from the inside.... Just now when I took the picture, the skin fell off and it became a huge open wound.. as big as a soy bean!!! This whole thing took about 5 days (since I fisrt noticed the dark mark on her side)... pH and everything was normal... and I paid a lot of attention to this tank because it is a breeding tank. Water condition is good because no ammonia or nitrate present.

Please help!!!

well.. it does look like an open wound due to biting or whatever, but she's been in the breeding tank for more than 2 weeks, and the problem started after one and a half weeks. In the breeding thank there were only 2 mollies and plants only.. no decorations... Also, she came from a community tank... I had her for more than a year, and she's been doing great, and gave birth 3 times already.. with 40 and plus fries. In the breeding thank, the temperature is around 84 F constantly, so I don't think heater is a problem... well.. any ideas??? please help.. she's been one of my favorite mollies =(

cinlnk-can a heater cause that?my fish bump my heater all the time.
Yes it can cause a burn like that..Most fish learn to stay away from it...It has happened to a few of my fish. I bought a guard that slips over the heater to prevent this. You can pick them up at LFS or order them online.PetSupplyDude.com. Tronic Heater Guard For 150 & 200 W Heaters
There are diff brands and types. They work great!!!

At first I used anti-fungus... but her symptom was really weird because it looked like something is growing inside out, could it be internal parasite? ahhh.. I just checked on her today, I actually think she got worse =( the wound is so big that I can almost see her internal organs >_<'''.. **sigh** you know what, I actually don't think she can survive... I feel so sad...
