Please identify this cichlid

what is this cichlid?. I know it's aggressive but what is it's name?. It's absolutley beautiful

look at the size of it.....they dont obtain their adult coloration at THAT size do they?

Kind does look like an electric blue, i have one in my tank, when i have convicts it pushed them and everything else around, but know i have a firemouth and demspy in there and it is the most timid fish i have ever seen, it just sits there and takes all the shit from them.

Could that be a stunted one? I know with discus you can tell if the fish are stunted if the eyes are big in proportion to the body.......kinda looks like it has big eyes..

Im still stick with the Electric Blue

The dorsal fin is shaped like an Electric blue's......kinda it is getting that shape. Compare it with a normal everday Mbuna.

Yes, they can get that coloration a little under 2". Heres my F1 S. fryeri at 1 3/4"...

When I got my electric blue it was a little over an inch and it was a bright vibrant blue with the lighter blue stripes as in the pics showne here..big googly eyes an all

I don't doubt that your S.fryeri has got great color at a young age...the "cherries" from any clutch will look good at the smallest sizes.
I've also seen way too many batches of fish doesed with hormones to get their color out...I think its a shame.

I had the same problem identifying my electric blue - the eyes were big for the body, and it has a distinct "pike" shape to it (it's just under 2 inches - yet fully coloured). Aggressive in nature, it chases the mbuna about, then they switch around and chase the lecky. Should get to 6 or 7 inches. Also the only fish that ever 'flared" at me when i peered at it - lol

my electric blue is the most peacefull fish in the tank, hangs out at the top of the tank pretty much all the time.
