please identify

ok i have a few questions and i needed help identifying
the first seems to some kinda sponge but is it bad or good??

i have no clue what this is but its kinda hard

I agree the first looks like sponge... no harm

second looks like it may be an encrusting montipora

Encrusting "Montipora", it's a SPS coral that comes in a variety of shapes and colors.

so not a bad thing than... just makin sure ive been wondering about both things for a few months now just never got around to takin the pics till now

I agree with salty, is your rock caribbean? Those encrusting sps are pretty common on caribbean rock, I have 3 or 4 that came on mine, they are super hardy too.

Sponge should be fine, so long as it doesn't start to choke any corals, just keep an eye on it.

This doesn't apply to all but most cases if it grows slowly it isn't harmful or unwanted.... the bad stuff unfortunately grows fast.... red slime for example
