Question:

I have a 20g with a 6" rhino pleco and a clown loach. My pleco isn't particularly fond of the loach, but nevertheless I was thinking of putting in another loach. Will it be too much for my pleco to handle? Is that too many bottom-feeders in a 20g?

Eh...who picks the fights?? If its the loach then I wouldn't get another one for fear that they'd gang up on the pleco. If its the Pleco then I might get one...loaches like loach company...but I think they get pretty big don't they? Thats a tough one.

two things they are both territoral bottom feeders, and not all loaches like friends.clown loaches do though.i would get rid of one or the other.clowns are not always the little angels everyone makes them out to be.they are still loaches and can be big jerks at times espeicialy to other bottom feeders.

Are there plenty of hiding spots in your tank? I don't see the clown loach as being the instigator, since they are generally very friendly, if a bit curious. I would look into trading the pleco in for a smaller one, since at 6 inches long it's gonna be getting a bit too large for a 20g tank. A smaller pleco would also probably be a bit more mellow. And again, make sure there plenty of hiding spots. The clowns will swim wherever they please, but when they're not active, they'll go back to the same location every time.

not particularly. I have a big piece of driftwood that he hides under (there's two holes, but the pleco occupies the other). usually though, once your loach finds a good hiding spot, he'll keep the spot for life. no matter where mine goes, he always returns to that one spot.

i would suggest more than one spot just in case your oscars go after him in the first one. use some broad leaf plants that he could hide under (except i don't know how well those do with oscars).

well i'm kinda new on plants myself, but i think if you have enough fish, the CO2 and fertilization will take care of themselves. just make sure they get enough light.

but i'm definetly not a plant expert, i just started with live ones myself.
