Pleco color question

Here is a pic of my last gibbiceps plec, after I'd had it for several years. S/He was light with dark spots.

Here is my new younger one, who is dark with light spots:

You can see where my dang krib beats him up all the time.

Anyways, I had the first one for so long, is the color something that will change as it ages or is my new fish a different species??? Just curious!!!! It was sold to me at Petsmart as a gibbiceps.

The second picture is of a Gold Spot Pleco (L001), which are different than Gibbis. The name isn't official, but I know that's the L-number. They're really beautiful little plecs, I love mine

I looked it up and I guess I have a Glyptoperichthys joselimaianus. How fascinating!!!! He seems a lot more shy than the other guy but I've only had it a couple of months. Thank you!!!

Mine's always been very shy. He was my first fish and a year and half later, he still hides from me. I love his coloring though and yours has some exceptional colors in my opinion. Glad to be of help
