Some of you who may visit planet catfish may have seen this. But I thought I would share with my new friends here.

This is a video of our L134 frog plecs going at it sucker to sucker. No one was hurt and this was the only time I have ever seen them do this. Things have been calm since. To best of my knowledge this is the first time such behavior has been caught on film.

Please excuse the narration. My 9 yr old son shot this and was very excited to say the least.

enjoy

As most of them are the same size and this set up is less than 3 months old we figure it's a territory/dominance dispute. It went on for 30- 45 minutes, cause no one was getting the upper hand to establish "I'm the boss over you"

But there is more than enough room and caves. It's a 55 gallon tank, and there are only 6 of them in there.

Some opinions is it could have been over a female or even a courtship. they are getting of that age and size where the boys start noticing the girls. hopefully we will have them spawning within the next 6 months. :D

nope none. In my non show tanks and my discus tanks I keep them bare bottomed. It makes cleaning them all much easier. You don't have to root around in the gravel with the vac to get the crap out. You see right were it is and go for it.

I supplement the lack of good bacteria that lives in the substrate with huge sponge filters (that I make myself) and large lava rocks as anchors for the plants.

:D 6 show. Make that 7, just picked up 5 gal hex for my new wild betta on my lunch break today. 21 non show/breeding tanks 1 60 gal BN breeding pond. The show tanks are 40 gal, 90 gal, 75 gal, 29 gal (brackish), 20 gal, 15 gal. The breeding tanks are several 55s and then mostly 10s. Will be expanding the breeding tanks 20 or so more 10s at least 5 more 20s and 4 30 gal breeders soon.

I need more tanks just to handle fry..I know I'm sick I should go talk to Dr Phil. ROFL

That would be pretty funny seeing you on Dr. Phil and him saying something like, "twenty-one breeeeedin tanks? Now how's that workin for ya?". hehe..

Damn that's a lot of fishtanks. So, is that what you do for a living? Breed fish? Cause then I completely understand. Man, you gotta put some pics of your house up on here.

Nope I'm a phone man. IE I work on large phone systems. My family just fell in love with this hobby. The Mrs is into it too. She helps a lot as I travel a lot. Time! is the reason why we keep them bare bottom. I can go around the house with my 120 ft python and do all the water changes in about 2 hrs. I'll then once a month on a Sunday I'll spend the day cleaning filters.

As far as the house goes, there are just tanks every where. The closest thing I have to a fish room is my closet in my den. It about the size of a small bathroom with tanks all along one wall. The back wall is where the breeder tanks are going, then I will start setting up the other wall.

For pics you can find my link to my photo bucket in my introduction hello thread.

Wow - you have some great looking fish. Congrats on that. My wife is into fishkeeping, too. Makes things a lot easier when it's time to clean or buy something.

Hey are you the guy in the pic 'Pete's new boat'?

I would love to see a new folder on your photobucket page called 'tanks' that has pics of all the tanks and/or pics of the rooms filled with them.
