i dont think my pleco has been eating lately. his stomach is slightly concave. i feed him algae wafers and he usually gets sinking carnavore pellets i feed my catfish, and koi pellets but i haven't seen him do that lately. i also got some lettuce rubber banded to a rock, i just put that in, idk if he touched it yet. i think the koi are eating his wafers before he can get to them. i drop them in after the light has been off, but they still get them. anyone got any suggestions on how to keep the other fish from eating his wafers? and, any other suggestions on what else to try? this pleco has really grown on me and i would hate to lose him.

How big is he, BTW? I would hate to see him decline. I tend to feed my hungry fish flakes and at the same time drop in some pellets so that the bottom dwellers have a chance. Plecos can be slow moving though. They do like zucchini and cukes.. as froggy said... give that a try. Keep us posted.

hmmm. right now i dont have any cucumber or zuccini. will celery or apple work?

idk how big he is, maybe 5-6 inches??? after my other pleco died i bought him, he was like the last one there (it was right before a shipment) and when i got him he was like 2 inches.

i'll try feeding them at the same time.

thanks

i tried that, but the fish split up and some at the wafers on one side of the tank, and some at the ones on the opposite side. i just looked at him, he seems a bit fatter, but i don't know if in a few days he will be skinny again.

believe it or not, this pleco won't eat wafers any more. don't know why, though. what worked is apple and lettuce. i guess he finally discovered it (after i moved him right in front of it) and really went to town! there's little bits of food floating around, got to clean that, but it's fine as long as he's happy.
