PLECO

Can anyone give me some sort of info on the pleco? What type, male/female... thanks

It looks to me to just be a Common Pleco and possibly a female, as I dont see the "hairy fins" thats a trait of males. "Males develop (particularly on their pectoral fin rays and lower back) heavy teeth-like odontodal growth. Awsome... The LFS told me that he has a hard "armor" shell around him to help protect him against the cichlids. Do all plecos have this or is this common in the "common" pleco.

All Plecos are scaleless, meaning they dont have scales. And yes they are "hard bodied".

ever get so mad at your LFS you just want to go there and ring their necks?

They told my husband that we had to get this one because he was known as a "armour back" pleco and he would be the only one who could survive in a tank of cichlids.

Lol.... wow... the guys at your lfs have loads of laughs at customers' expense, from the sound of it. Those guys are so full of it. I think I would go wring a couple of necks.

Beautiful Common Pleco The back markings almost look like a Gold Spot Plec, but its belly is definitly a common's.
It looks like a female, but usually it's near impossible to tell with Commons, since they don't breed until they're HUGE.
