try a net, they always work best for me.....I hope you peeps aren't all using those 4"x2" little green useless nets they use at the pet stores? *LOL* those things SUCK big donkey d! They make some sweet nets that are like 6"x4" black netting, green handles, those are da bomb!!! (and I use them on my guppies!!!) go bigger....

2nd best maybe a hook and a worm.....

Yeah, I got my pleco out using my big useless green net. He wasn't too happy, but he kind of just sat there when I took him out of the water and into a dish.

i dunno i just used like a net and it got scared and moved and while not on the side then i would just catch it in a net and move it into my 10G mine was about 9 inchs but same rhing wouldf work i ghuass i dunno fit hsi is the best way to do this but this is what i did and it qworked for me ^.^

there won't be too much of a problem if you just add the substrate in handfuls or shoo off the fish as you add.most fish can feel a shift in the water as something gets close to them and will avoid whatever is coming.although my pleco moves for nothing except when i try to pick him up thats the only way he will move.if you insist on trying to extract your pleco ask your lfs for a large or x-large bag and try to chase your pleco into the bag.they can't see the bag like they see that net coming at them.
