plecos and driftwood?

why is it that plecos love to eat driftwood? I had a clown pleco with my driftwood and all he did was just stay on the driftwood and make driftwood poo. is it natural for them to always eat driftwood and poo that much? and how do you stop this behavior?

you don't stop this behaviour,you encourage it.this is a natural function of many plecos.wood is a requierment for some plecos.wood provides fiber and helps clean the digestive tract.
clown plec's by nature are secretive,so if your's is out and eating driftwood you should could consider yourself lucky.

Oh, and clown plecos prefer the algae on the driftwood over the algae on the glass. My clown pleco is out alot, mostly stuck to that driftwood tho!
