I have been researching for information on what kind of pleco is good for a 10 gallon tank. All i seem to find is plecos who need a minimum of 30 gallons. I currently have what i belive is a common pleco and i want to return him to my lfs and trade it for a pleco, maybe, whos not gonig to get so big. I also plan on buying a few ghost shrimp, finally my lfs is getting some in. i was just wondering 2 things, what kind of pleco is good for a 10 gallon tank and also if shrimp and plecos are ok for the same tank. thanks *PEACE!*

What else do you have in this tank? Most plecos just can't deal with such a small space, maybe look into a small group of kuhli loaches, cory cats, or just stick with the shrimp for now. It really depends on what else you have in the tank though, but I can't think of any pleco off hand that would thrive in a 10g. That common DEFINITLY needs to go.

I'd say if you take the Pleco back you're tank is pretty full, the shrimp should be OK, but I woulden't add anything else and I would definitly get that pleco back ASAP.

General rule of thumb is 1" per Gallon... Your fish average about 2" a piece and you have 7 fish, that's 14" of fish in 10gals of water, Might even think about ditching the dianos or consider getting a bigger tank.

the 1" per gallon really isnt that strict, without the common pleco you tank would be fine, even a little understocked. definately take the common pleco back, you dont want a 14 inch fish in a 10g ;). there really arent any plecos that a suitable for 10g, have you looked into otto's? there great little algae eaters and a couple would make a good edition to your tank.

A clown pleco might do okay, but things may get cramped depending on how many other tank inhabitants you have in there. If you do get a clown pleco (which grow to about 4 inches), then I would definitely not get any other bottom-feeders for that tank at all.

I agree that it's not THAT strict, that's why I mentioned that the pleco MUST go and it might be worth considering letting the blues go, not necessairy, it's ok the way it is, if the tank is heavily filtered and/or planted, your good, but I woulden't say understocked.

Hummm, that marbled bristlenose seems like a good option, never seen them before, seems like a good plan if you don't want otos.

OK Now those are cute... think they would be OK with Tiger Barbs, a Rainbow Shark, and some Female Bettas? Are they more/less active than the otos? How easy are they to get ahold of?
