Probably depends on the size of the tank and the thickness of the plexi... using normal thickness plexi on my 2.5g, it warped horribly. I've got double thick on there now, but it still needs to be flipped over every few weeks or so... I'm not sure how well it'd hold up on a bigger tank.

The bigger the tank the more it warps. I tried doing this to save some green on tops for most of my tanks. Ended up costing me more as it was a waste of cash and I ended up just getting glass cut.

Glass works better. I use 4 mm plexi for my basement ghetto tank and it is warped. It's not so easy to clean. If it can get in, glass cleans very easily in the dishwasher with the pots
