We would like to put in a pond but we no very little on what to do, how to set it up, and what are some good plants and fish to place in it? This probley sounds silly but we have a small pool could the chemicals get mix some way?

How big is the pool? You can keep fish in pretty much anything that will hold water and not leach 'baddies'. There are plenty of people who have converted inground swimming pools and other things for fishy use. :)

If you don't even know where to start, research, research, research. And plan as big as you can -- you'll always want to upgrade. One very good site for ponding advice is Koiphen.com

I believe he was asking whether the chemicals such as clorine from the pool water would leach into the pond. (and not about using the pool as a pond). The answer is no, unless you are pumping the pool water into your backyard.;) ;)
It all depend on the pool plumbing. When changing water in our pool for maintenance, the water is simply pump into the city drainage. And thus absolutely no water (cl2) get mixed in with the surrounding soil.

When building a pond, you can either use pond liner or cement the floor which would also prevent any unwanted chemicals leaching into your pond water.
