I came home this evening and my platy was laying on the hygro. I thought It was dead. I went to scoop it out and it began swimming -- well not quite swimming, more like spinning. A minute later it was laying on the bottom of the tank. I scoop it out and both eyes are bulging. Color, size, shape, everything else looks normal. My 6 neons all look fine and are acting normal. Water is clean just changed 20% a few days ago. 0 ammonia 0 nitrite <12.5 ppm nitrate. Temp has been at 26 C for a week, usually keep at 23 C.
*Note I just added this fish a week ago, got it off craigslist with a cardinal that never made it into my tank because of cottonmouth and finrot. Also got a cory from the same person (out of the same tank) that fish looked fine and i took to the pet store and swapped him for another neon.
I euthanized the platy and now he's in my freezer. May take him to my LFS for a post-mortem diagnosis.
What caused it and are my tetras in danger???
