I have two albino cories with pop-eye. I have tried every medication I can find for it and it just won't go away. I moved them into my nursery tank since it requires the least cleaning, so I wouldn't be disturbing them with hoses and water changes often. They swim, they eat, they seem fine except for the pop-eye. PLEASE someone help me with this. ANY ideas, opinions, anything. They are now in the maternity tank since it is bigger. I felt they needed more room and it is peaceful in there for them, no big fish bumping them around. I love the little guys and refuse to put them down unless they are suffering. I'm at a loss, this has been going on for months. PLease. Thank you.

What meds have you tried? Maracyn? I also hear salt helps..Unfortunately if you want to try salt, you'll have to wait til someone who knows more about what to do with salt comes along, cuz I don't know.:D

Violet - I'm REALLY new at this, but when I had just started my tank, a few of my mollies came down with popeye.

It went away when I did a 50% H2O change, raised the tank temp about 3 or 5°, and added 1T salt per 5 gallons.

I've since heard that 1T/5 gal is too much salt, that 1t is more appropriate.

Good luck with your little cories. Those sure are cute little fishies.

Do not use salt with corydoras! They are a scaleless fish, and therefore do not tolerate salt very well.

Popeye is usually caused by either some sort of bacterial and parasitic infection, or poor water quality. I would not recommend trying any other treatments, however like Zona said before, just make sure to do some water changes.

Corys are still the same. I didn't put salt in. I have used salt in my aquariums off and on for ages and my corys have always been fine, I'm not saying this to argue with you Fishboy. I have been doing the water changes, tried meds, though have not used any meds for a while, but it just won't go away. I won't use the salt if you recommend that I don't, although I do use a bit from time to time. Regular water changes are not doing the trick, I feel so bad for these little guys, they seem happy and fine aside from the pop-eye, on one it is mild, the other it is pretty bad. Don't know what else to do!!!!
