Porky Puffer

I purchased a porcupine puffer last Friday. He is not eating, and has no signs of illness or heavy breathing. I have tried Krill, Squid, and brine shrimp. Anyone have any suggestions?

usually i ask to see any fish i buy feed at the LPS before i buy it, it is a good indication of how healthy the fish is, as well as it shows you what you can feed them

I will do that from now on. He looks very healthy now, so I hope he starts soon. About how long can they go without eating. I remember my powder blue tang did not eat for a week and now I have had him for 2 years.

Try frozen Mysis or live brine shrimp. Did you quarantine the fish? If not you are risking infecting your tank (especially with a porcipine puffer). Quarantining all fish helps with the transition and will give the fish time to start to eat without being frightened by the other inhabitants.

By the way a nice collection of fish, be aware they will need an upgrade in the near future.

Never heard of qurantine? I just fed my fish and he was a no go.

Upgrade as far a bigger tank?
