the feeder fish, that I have been keeping as a pet (for all you goldfish snobs! lol j/k) seems to be missing a couple of scales. There are no other fish in the tank with him, so I was wondering if he is possibly sick and if there is anything I can do... we've had for about a year and a half and I have never noticed this before... any information on the subject would be helpful

he simply coulda freaked out once when you didn't see him and musta scratched himself against some decor in the tank...this happens. I've seen my swordtails do it and lose a few scales by being so careless...
just watch that scaleless part for a few weeks, and they should regrow. if they don't then you got a problem
