Possible fin rot (edited 5/9 to add pic)

Yesterday night I notice a white spot on my black mollies tail. When I got home from work tonight I noticed where the spot was it is now missing part of its fin. I am sorry I am not able to get a pic at this time. If it is fin rot I do not have a hospital tank. Is it safe to treat the whole tank (10 gallon) .

Edited 5/9/05 to add picture. Hope this helps to possibly identfy if it is fin rot.

I would just keep an eye on it for a day or two, and see if there are any more spots on that fish or any other. His tail will grow back. What percentage of his tail is gone anyway? If you do need to treat, you can try Melafix, which is a gentle treatment. It doesn't always work on aggressive cases of fin rot, but it works well on mild cases, and won't harm your fish.

added pic in original post for possible help in identifing if it is fin rot. Also at the base of the missing section of fin it is white (cannot see it well in the pic).

Thanks all in advance for your help

The dorsal (fin on the back) is also full of holes :( How often have you been doing water changes, and what is the temperature like? Have you measured your nitrates? Poor water quality could be causing these problems.

I would do a water change, and get some Melafix to help with fin regeneration.
