I am fairly new to the fish world, I started my tank 4 weeks ago. I have a 10 gallon community tank with 2 guppies & 3 female mollies & 22 baby mollies in a breeding net in the tank(purchased the fish at a pet store & was told they were female & not expecting. Needless to say they had no idea what the heck they were talking about) . I changed 25% of my tank water yesterday (I change the water once a week). I added start right to the tank at the time of the water change as I always do & added easy balance 24 hours later as I have always done. This afternoon when I got home I noticed one of my black mollies has one eye that is huge & popped out. After doing some research I believe its pop eye. How should I treat this? I do not have another tank I can move it to. Should I treat the whole tank? Will the whole tank come down with this? I have no clue what to do or where to start treating it.

Thanks in advance for your help!!

If it's only one eye popped out, I would assume it banged itself into something. You should probably check that there isn't anything sharp in the tank that could have done this. It's also possible there was some aggression, and another fish attacked it (maybe one of the other mollies).

I would advise you add a little Melafix (a mild antiseptic, available at any fish store) and keep an eye on her (no pun intended). :)

Thank you for the info. When I checked the tank this morning the eye was pretty much back to normal. She must have injured her eye on something in the tank. I checked & there doesn't seem to be anything to sharp in there, so I'm not sure what exactly happened. Again thank you.
