Possibly the stupidest question ever.

Do fish yawn!?

My two angelfish have done it, extending their mouth all the way out and open, and now one of my loaches did it. They aren't stressed or anything, they're 'lounging' around. My fish tend to do that ever so often.

Oh yeah... I think my Angelfish might be a pair. They refuse to seperate and always do everything together. One also has a little trailer on the end of his tail... I say his because well yeah... Tag is the one with the trailer.

Think I could have a pair? AND OMG DO FISH YAWN!?

One source said that they could possibly be stretching their gills... But OMG I'm still confused. Has anyone else seen this in their fish? Aparently if they do this (yawn aka stretching their gills) it means their comfortable (YAY!)

My bettas, especially Kissyboots (the fish) did it all the time. The swordtails did it too. I think it was Orion (?) that got an awesome pic of one of his fish "yawning." But I'm not sure why they do it.

I sat in front of my tank once and yawned at the fish to see if they'd yawn back...and yes...I'm obsessed...:p

Haha!
I was thinking perhaps it was a reactive thing (like they saw me do it or something :D ) but aparently goldfish do it alot (that's where I got that info above).

I sit in front of my 30 and watch my angels. They always tend to come up all "omg HI! :)" and it's adorable. I lurve my fishies <3

My swordtail does it.
Get hic-ups?

Someone had mentioned a few of the photo's I took of my Gold Saum yawning, and I tell you those were some lucky pictures. Most of the time I seemed that I always was either to quick, or to slow to get a good yawn. C-Man has had some very good ones he'd posted in the past before as well.

People yawn as a test of the flappy thing in the back of your throat. I forget what it's called but basically it's the flap that keeps food from going into your lungs and air out of your stomach.

Fish of course do no have this flappy thing so their reason for yawning isn't really known.

Triton yawn! That's exactly what I'm talking about xD!

I get those taste cramps, I get 'em all the time. I thought I was just weird. It happens if I laugh while I eat, or do anything with my mouth while I'm eating. Omg does it hurt.
