I'm needing some feedback on what type of filteration I should install on an oceanic 58g show tank for freshwater use. I've always used power filters in the past and have had really good luck with them. The problem I'm running into is that most power filters don't fit on this type of tank. The trim on the tank is too thick to allow most power filters to fit on the back of the tank appropriately. I have been told that an Aqua Clear 500 should fit. I have also been told that the only filteration that will work is a sump or canister filter. If anyone could give their insight. I would really appreciate it!

if you want a top-of-the line, low-maintenance filter for a show tank you cant beat the eheim pro II series...they are simply the best canister out there, just at a price....

aquaclears are also great HOB filters.

i dont know much about wet/dry systems, but on a 58 gallon the eheim pro II 2028 would do nicely by itself, or even better with a HOB to back it up.

Ah Somonas Mr. Moderator sir unless I've been living under A rock there is no such thing as A XP4. But you are 100% correct the XP3 is an awesome filter!! eheim are the granddaddy of filters that's for sure but for the price of an arm & a fin. Go with the generic version it's cheaper and it does a great job!!! P.s. fluvals SUCK
