Power Head / Power Filter

I am using a AquaClear Power Filter. When power is restored after a shortage, the motor dry runs until I fill the case with water. I am thinking whether I can make use of my power head to direct water into the case. In other words, can I use an 'external water pump' instead of the impeller?

You can, and it wouldnt be that hard to make but I think it will look awkawrd and dont really see the point of doing this.

Is the pump battery operated or something? so you can run it when the power goes out, or just to refill the empty case when you loose power?

I dont know how much you loose power but filling it up isnt that bad.

It may be kind of hard to regulate the water flow into it but i dont know exactly what you want to do/why.

If I go to vacation for 1 week and the power goes off on day one. The filter will dry run for 6 days, don't know whether this can burn the filter/house. Definitely the fishes won't be that happy.
