Hey folks! I am a long time FW hobbiest, but new to these forums and I have a question for the experts out there.

I am setting up a 29gal FW tank and will be using an UG Filter and small canister filter (H.O.T. Magnum). I have never used a powerhead on my previous UG filters and was thinking about using them on this tank.

Would 2 powerheads (140gph each) be to much for a 29gal seeing I have a canister filter as well? Maybe just 1 powerhead (would that be unbalanced)?

Any feedback would be appreaciated! Thanks!

No real need for a powerhead in my opinion. Unless you want to use it to maybe reverse flow the UGF?

(Still I would skip the UGF altogether. There's no need for it - the HOT Magnum is plenty of filtration for the tank.)

Therefore my advice is simple - skip the ugf and the powerhead and just go with the magnum.

Cheers.
