Could someone explain to me what a powerhead is? I found an old one with all my old equipment and this i actually inherited from my aunt who isnt into the hobby anymore. So what does a powerhead do and how could i use it? It says a power gravel filter and i dont understand how it works or will work so could someone reffer me to a link explaining it or explain it for me ? Thanks a bunch.

powerheads are like water pumps, they suck water in and blast it out, some people use them to power UGFs, i use them in my tanks with sand because it keeps stuff froms ettling so the filter can do its job, they provide currents and surface movement

The first photo shows various types of powerheads, a Penguin 550 with quickfilter attachment, a Zoo-Med sweep powerhead, and an unknown model. All 3 attach to UGF's or quickfilters the same way.

The second photo shows a Pro 4 with quickfilter, doing it's job in one of my tanks
