Well....Cichlids lay eggs. So it really can't be pregnant.

To answer your question......a male needs to fertilize the eggs, then the female picks up the eggs in her mouth and keeps them there until they hatch. Once you see that she is carrying a mouthful of babies you can either strip her to get them out or just let it go and sooner or later she will spit them out. Once she does then you can move her out of the 20gal and use it as a growout for those babies.

And how can it be Albino and Red? :D :D lol

Good luck.

Normally they are orange... The males ARE blue in the wild but they have been bred and crossed bred so really all you see in petstores are the RedXReds etc.

If you want a true "blue" male Red Zebra you would most likely have to get a special order "wild caught" fish with can be costly

I am sure the eggs are fertilized as you are saying they have been in her mouth for a week now, if they weren't fertilized they would have gone bad by now and she would have ate or spit them.

Also,

Try not to stress her out, leave her alone with out to much motion around the tank. If you stress her out she can and will spit or eat the egg's

Most of the time holding fish won't eat, but if you can grind up some flakes between your fingers they will and can eat that way.

Hope everything works out for you!

you dont want to change her ph now. If she is breeding, then she is happy, so leave it there. If shes been holding for a week now, you can move her to a separate tank(as long as its cycled). Just make sure the temp is the same as the tank that shes currently in. If you want to raise or lower the temp on the new tank, do it slowly and after shes already in there so she doesnt get shocked.
