Have 3 Platties in my tanks which are great but 1 has decided to force its way behind my filter. I have heard they are randy so & so's and breed like rabbits is this a sign that 1 maybe pregnant as if it is i don't want to disturb her or is it a sign of 1 of them dying or being in stress?

It could be a number of reason, As you stated Xiphophorus variatus do breed alot and can store a males sperm for many months after one mating session. This platy may be behind the filter to gove birth in peace as males tend to become rather attracted to them at this stage as they want to eat the newborn fry. This 'behin the filter' could also be due to stress, perhaps the water current is too strong and its hiding in the one spot where it can stay in peace and rest.

tank is 70 litres stocked with 3 red platties 1 marble molly 3 tiger barbs 2 ladder loaches and a small catfish. I do 30% tank changes every 2-3 weeks. i do not yet own a liquid test kit but i am buying 1 today. I inherited the tank from the father in law he set it up has been running for about 10 months now.

That is about 18 gallons. What kind of catfish do you have? Can you post a picture? You are massively overstocked with the ladder loaches. They grow to be 8 inches long each. Rehome them to someone with a 55 gallon or larger tank or see if your pet store will take them back. Your tank is overstocked and likely causing an ammonia or nitrate spike. With that many fish, I would be doing 50% water changes every week. You need liquid test kits.

Please post your water parameters for ammonia, nitrate and nitrite whenever you buy the test kit.

Given the size of the tank and the fact that you have an imcomplete school of tiger barbs (who are aggressive toward other fish when not kept in proper schools of six or more...more being the better end of that deal), I would say your platy is probably stressed. I would remove the tiger barbs and ladder loaches, and depending on what kind of catfish you have (I love that people don't realize just how vague calling your fish a "catfish" can be...no offense, just a random observation), remove it as well.
