Pregnant!!?

is my white molly pregnant its gotten bigger has a black spot but has not changed behavior also it has a circular thing sticking out about where she poos is this a birthing tube and if she is pregnant when will she have her babies?? IMG_1927.jpg IMG_1931.jpg

She looks pregnant to me. The gestation period for mollies are 60 days. Start to keep an eye out when She hangs out at the bottom of the tank and quits eating.

Most livebearers (mollies included) give birth after about 4 weeks, not 60 days. From a single breeding, they can produce a new batch of fry every month for several months.

Man that can be a whole-lotta mollies if you're not prudent about it.

They are delightful fish though. Like little puppy dogs happy to see you.

Makes me happy I requested my 2 platys and 2 mollies all be the same sex when I bought them. Wound-up with all females and luckily, if any were preggo when I got them, I have no additional live-bearers in the tank.

I put 4 fry in a 20 gallon plant-only tank once (didn't know they were there, came from water/gravel of another tank). I saw and counted 4 after about 2 wks. A year later....I had over 70!
