Prot. Skimmer

I have found an old Red Sea Berlin skimmer that has what appears to be encrusted salt and other crud on the deep insides where i cant reach with a cleaning pad. Has anybody had any luck cleaning something like this. I usually let it sit in bleach and water for some time and it breaks up and dissolves but this time no luck. Any quick ideas are appreciated.

P.S. My bubble tip anemones are reproducing like rabbits.

the bleach will most likely kill your fish--i'd shell out the money and buy a new one cuz u can always trust old equipment

if you wait for the chlorine to evaporate and keep flushing with fresh water you are fine. i have done it tons of times

Bleach is a great tool to disinfect old equipment (or decorations, tanks, etc.) for reuse. I always add a big dose of the "couple o' drops a gallon" dechlorinator to the final soak water, rinse it real well, and then air dry it.

ahh, i forgot about dechlorinators (*hits himself*)

next time use viniger... let it soak... and less rinsing needed as it isnt as destructive to your system as bleach
